Actinic keratosis-skin cancers

Actinic Keratosis/Skin Cancers

Actinic Keratoses (AK) is a pre-cancerous area of the skin caused by sun damage from UV light. AKs are very common and typically appear as scaly bumps on the skin on the arms, face, ears, chest or lower legs. On healthy people, about 10% of AKs will progress to cancer. In patients with compromised immune systems, up to 40% of AKs may progress to cancer.

The good news is that both AKs and most skin cancers can be treated safely at home, under a doctor’s supervision. Melbourne Pharma compounds with both commonly used therapies for AKs and non-melanoma superficial skin cancers.
